Critical Network Outage
Incident Report for PatientNow / EnvisionNow
Resolved
On Saturday, January 13 th 2018 at approx. 12 noon EST our Envision Cloud website was the victim of a massive DDoS attack.

This malicious attack flooded our servers with thousands of web requests from multiple IP addresses to disrupt our service.

A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. They target a wide variety of important resources, from banks to news websites, and present a major challenge to making sure people can publish and access important information.

Envision Cloud’s network support staff operates 24/7 and continually monitors our service to make sure we maintain our 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Immediately after the DDoS attack started, our technical support team were notified, and began the process of blacklisting (blocking) these rogue servers from accessing our services.

Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of rogue servers, it took our network support team almost an hour to block enough of them to allow our authorized clients the ability to access the Envision Cloud Service.
